The Department of Geological Engineering at Istanbul Technical University aims to provide a student-based education and research program of the highest quality. Within the department, 273 undergraduate, 36 graduate and 12 doctoral students continue their education. Our department constitutes one of the largest Geological Engineering Departments in Turkey with 33 faculty members and 21 teaching assistants specialized in a wide range of research topics. In addition to this large staff, all laboratories within the department were renewed and modernized in 2009.
In 2004, our department, which has an ABET accredited undergraduate program, organizes seminars and meetings on many different topics every year. Scientists and researchers from all over the world who are experts in their fields give seminars and lectures within the scope of these events and cooperate with the department staff. All members of our department are in contact with international universities and institutes in their own fields and cooperate in many joint projects and researches. In addition, many of our students can go to foreign universities as guest students thanks to exchange programs such as the Erasmus program.
